Can the Golden State Warriors establish playoff positioning today with a win over the Phoenix Suns?

In a battle between Western Conference teams on Tuesday night, the Phoenix Suns will host the Golden State Warriors at PHX Arena. This is the final week of the regular season, so tension and competitiveness around the league is at an all-time high for this season.

The Warriors have been great of late, but are coming off a tough loss against the Houston Rockets. They’ll look to get things back on track today, with a win catapulting them to as high as fifth in the Western Conference, while a loss could drop Golden State as far as eighth. The Warriors are one of four teams with an identical 46-32 record with less than a week remaining in the regular season.

While the Suns wanted to make a late push to make the postseason, they’ve lost six games in a row and have been eliminated from postseason contention. It was a very disappointing season for Phoenix, with a 35-43 record to this point. The Suns are 23-15 at home which will play in their favor tonight, but Golden State has much more to play for.

Again, Golden State has a lot more to play for tonight than Phoenix. As such, expect the Warriors to come out hot and build an early lead, with 3-point shooting being the mechanism they’ll use to make that happen.

Following this contest, the Warriors will play again on Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs on the second night of a back-to-back when fatigue could play a factor. Meanwhile, the Suns will travel to Oklahoma City to play the Thunder on Wednesday, as they also will play a second game in as many days.
