Alperen Sengun and the Houston Rockets take on Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs for the second time this season.

For the second time in three days two of the three teams in Texas face-off with the San Antonio Spurs (1-1) hosting the Houston Rockets (1-2). In that first game San Antonio held on for the 109-106 win after building a 21 point lead heading into the second half. Houston battled back, led by the trio of Jalen Green, Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks in the loss. The story of the game was Victor Wembanyama. The second year big man bounced back in a huge way after a tough start to the season leading San Antonio with 29 points. He anchored the team on both ends with his scoring and defense helping San Antonio hold on for its first win of the season.

In the first game of the season Wembanyama looked like a player trying to do what was expected of him in the modern NBA. He put up eight shots from three making only one and looked like he was playing a different game than his rookie season and during the Olympics that won him Rookie of the Year and a silver medal.

Jeremy Sochan added a double-double (17 points and 12 rebounds), Keldon Johnson came off the bench for 16 points, Julian Champagnie added 12 points and veteran Harrison Barnes finished with 11 points on 4-6 shooting from the field. There was a lot more focus and intention with the San Antonio offense.

For Houston the team saw Green go off for 29 points to lead five players in double-figures. VanVleet (18 points) and Brooks (16 points) each splashed home four three-pointers while Alperen Sengun struggled with just six points, five rebounds and two assists in the loss. That was Sengun’s fifth lowest point total as a starter in his career.
