Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder face off on Sunday night in a winner-take-all matchup for the NBA championship

Eight months after the season tipped off in Boston on Oct. 22, either the Indiana Pacers or the Oklahoma City Thunder will claim the NBA championship on Sunday night when the teams square off in Game 7 of the NBA Finals at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. It’s the first time the Finals have gone the distance since 2016, when the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers knocked off the 73-win Golden State Warriors and just the fifth Game 7 in the NBA Finals since the turn of the century. Indiana is after its first NBA title while the Thunder franchise hasn’t won the crown since leaving Seattle in 2008.

Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who put up 14 points and five assists in 23 minutes in Indiana’s 108-91 blowout victory in Game 6, is questionable for Game 7 with the strained calf that he played through on Thursday night. Obi Toppin led the Pacers in Game 6 with 20 points in 23 minutes off the bench, Andrew Nembhard added 17 points and Pascal Siakam finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was held to 21 points on Thursday while Jalen Williams had 16. The pair had combined for 71 points in a Game 5 win at Oklahoma City on Monday. Oklahoma City turned the ball over 21 times in Game 6 β€” eight by Gilgeous-Alexander β€” and trailed by as much as 31 before closing the gap a bit in the fourth quarter.

The Thunder have won the last two games at Paycom Center after leading for nearly the entire game before losing Game 1 on Haliburton’s late jumper. Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 30.5 points per game in the Finals while Williams is getting 24.2 points a night in the series. Siakam leads Indiana at 19.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in the Finals while Haliburton averages 14.8 points and 6.8 assists.
