After having their eight game winning streak ended over the weekend, the Los Angles Lakers are back in action on Monday night when they visit the Brooklyn Nets.

On Saturday night, the Los Angeles Lakers (40-22) began a four game road trip on the East Coast with a tough test against the Boston Celtics. Despite getting 34 points from Luka Doncic and Lebron James coming up an assist short of a triple-double, the Lakers lost that game 111-101. That ended an eight game losing streak for the Lakers. Now, J.J. Reddick’s team makes the quick trip from Boston to New York, and will try to start a new winning streak on Monday night when they visit the Brooklyn Nets (21-42) at the Barclays Center.

During that eight game winning streak, the Lakers dominance was mainly on the defensive end of the floor. In fact, the Lakers have been the best defensive team in the NBA since the All-Star break allowing just 104.2 points per game. For the season as a whole they rank eighth, allowing 111.1 points per game.

The Lakers’ defense was also key last time they played the Nets, which was back in mid-January in Los Angeles. They won that game 102-101, as Austin Reaves scored a career-high 38 points.

Meanwhile, the Nets come in trying to put an end to a seven-game losing streak. In their last game on Saturday they lost to the Charlotte Hornets 105-102.
