Unbeaten Cleveland Cavaliers host Orlando Magic in a playoff rematch at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Friday.
New coach Kenny Atkinson has the Cleveland Cavaliers (5-0) firing on all cylinders as the last unbeaten team in the Eastern Conference. On Friday night, the Cavs — tops in the NBA in offensive rating at 123.4 and fourth in defensive rating at 105.7 — host the Orlando Magic (3-2) in a rematch of last season’s seven-game first-round playoff series. Orlando is fifth in the NBA with a 106.9 defensive rating and comes off a loss. Center Goga Bitadze didn’t play Wednesday for the Magic with a strained tendon in his left foot and wing Franz Wagner left early in the fourth quarter with an illness. Cleveland is without Max Strus (sprained right ankle) while point guard Craig Porter Jr. (sprained right thumb) did not play Wednesday.

The Cavaliers erupted for 42 first-period points and never looked back in a 134-110 pasting of the visiting Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. Evan Mobley scored 25 points, Donovan Mitchell added 24, Jarrett Allen finished with 20 points and 17 rebounds and Darius Garland went for 12 points and 10 assists in the win.
Orlando hit just 4-of-22 shots in the fourth quarter, fading to a 102-99 road loss to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. Paolo Banchero scored 31 points for the Magic while Jalen Suggs added 17. The team shot just 23.9% (11-of-46) from behind the arc and was outrebounded 54-42 in the loss.
Banchero is averaging 29.0 points and 5.6 assists for Orlando, with Wendell Carter Jr. putting up 8.8 points and 10.4 rebounds and Franz Wagner scoring 17.8 points per game. Mitchell paces Cleveland with 23.8 points per game, Allen gets 17.8 points and 11.0 rebounds an outing and Garland books 17.8 points and 6.0 assists per contest. Mobley is averaging 19.2 points and 2.0 blocks.
