The Oklahoma City Thunder go for their third win in a row when they face off against the Dallas Mavericks for the last time during the season

Strap in for this regional rivalry on Thursday night when the Oklahoma City Thunder host their Southwest division foe the Dallas Mavericks. These teams are on opposite trajectories in their last five games. OKC has won four of its last five games and Dallas has lost four of its last five games. But it is the Mavericks who are trying to win this season series outright tonight holding a 2-1 advantage heading into this regular-season finale. The Thunder have only lost two games since Dec. 19 and are coming off a 123-114 win over the Utah Jazz at home on Wednesday.

Shai-Gilgeous Alexander is making a great argument for league MVP once again outdoing himself against the Utah Jazz. The Thunder star scored a career-high 54 points in what was still a surprisingly close game until the end. Gilgeous-Alexander’s previous career best was 45. Utah kept it close by out rebounding the Thunder by 13 and had 23 offensive rebounds. But the star power of the Thunder was just too much to pull off the upset. Oklahoma City is once again big favorites with a -13.5 line in its favor against Dallas.

Dallas is coming off a tough one-point loss in a rematch of last year’s Western Conference finals losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-114 on Wednesday at home. Jaden McDaniels scored a career-best 29 points and he hit the game-winning free throw with three seconds left to help the Timberwolves prevail. That was despite a great night from Kyrie Irving who put up 36 points. Irving also surpassed the 18,000 point mark in the game. Klay Thompson was one of four out for the Mavericks tonight and health is going to be a huge factor if they are to pull off this upset on the road on back-to-back nights.
