The Charlotte Hornets will look to snap a long losing streak Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

As the final weeks of the season unfold, the Charlotte Hornets will host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday at Spectrum Center. These two teams have very different trajectories this season, but this still could end up being a competitive contest.

After defeating the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, the Timberwolves will be playing again in the second night of a back-to-back today with the chance to win a second game in as many nights. Minnesota is slowly climbing the standings, entering this game as winners of two in a row and at 34-29 on the season overall. It’s worth noting that the Wolves have been solid on the road this season, already notching 17 wins away from Minnesota.

The Hornets are yet again one of the teams with a bottom record in the NBA, sitting at 14-46 on the season. They’ve lost seven consecutive games entering tonight and will be underdogs in this contest. With that in mind, Charlotte has been better at home this season, with nine of its 14 wins happening in front of its own crowd.

Injuries have plagued the Hornets all season, but even then, it’s been a disappointing season for the team. They’ve been unable to take that next step yet again, looking at another top draft pick for another season. Conversely, the Timberwolves look poised to make the postseason and potentially a deep run in the playoffs for the second consecutive season. While the roster experienced some shakeup in the offseason, Minnesota is still a real threat in the Western Conference.

Following this contest, the Timberwolves will continue their road trip on Friday night against the Miami Heat. Meanwhile, the Hornets remain at home to host the Cleveland Cavaliers next on the schedule.
