The Brooklyn Nets (1-1) and Phoenix Suns (2-0) face off again on Sunday at the Venetian Arena in Macao in the second and final matchup of the NBA China Games. The Suns won the first game on Friday as Jordan Goodwin scored six of his team-high 19 points in overtime to secure a 132-127 victory. Brooklyn led by as much as 18 points before Phoenix stormed back in the second half. Cam Thomas led the Nets with 22 points and six assists while Devin Booker and newcomer Dillon Brooks scored 18 points apiece for the Suns.

Phoenix started last season 8-1 before collapsing to a 36-46 finish, missing the Western Conference play-in tournament by three games and triggering the launch of a rebuild. Booker — who signed a five-year extension in July — is the lone star remaining on the roster after Kevin Durant was traded to the Houston Rockets and the team opted to buy out Bradley Beal. The trio played just 23 games together last season. The Suns picked up the draft rights to Duke big man Khaman Maluach while acquiring wings Brooks and Jalen Green in the Durant deal. The club also picked up center Mark Williams in a trade with the Charlotte Hornets.

The Nets went through 44 starting lineups last season en route to a 26-56 finish and used all five of its first-round picks in June, selecting BYU’s Egor Dëmin eighth overall while also bringing in French guard Nolan Traoré, North Carolina wing Drake Powell, South African wing Ben Saraf and Michigan big man Danny Wolf. After a lengthy negotiation period, Thomas signed his one-year qualifying offer as a restricted free agent and the club brought in Michael Porter Jr., Kobe Bufkin, Haywood Highsmith and Terance Mann in trades.

The Suns had made four straight trips to the postseason before missing the party in 2024-25 and will play for their fourth coach in four years after signing former Cleveland Cavaliers assistant Jordan Ott after firing Mike Budenholzer. Brooklyn missed the playoffs for the second straight year, finishing 26-56, and is still picking up the pieces from the failed Durant-Kyrie Irving-James Harden superteam experiment.
