How to Watch Breakers at 76ers: Stream NBA Preseason Live, TV Channel

The Philadelphia 76ers try again to put the right star with Joel Embiid, with Paul George in the lineup on Monday against the New Zealand Breakers.

Since the Philadelphia 76ers emerged from “The Process” era with a playoff berth in 2018, various executives have tried to surround 2022-23 NBA MVP Joel Embiid with the star power needed to bring a title back to Philly for the first time since 1983. The 76ers get their first look at their reconstituted roster on Monday night when they open their preseason against the New Zealand Breakers of Australia’s National Basketball League at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The Breakers are playing the second of three games against NBA clubs this fall.

Ben Simmons wasn’t the guy. Jimmy Butler fell short in his brief tenure. James Harden was a no-go. Now, Paul George arrives in Philadelphia after signing a four-year, $212 million deal in July. George joins Embiid and breakout star Tyrese Maxey, who won NBA Most Improved Player honors after averaging 25.9 and a team-best 6.2 assists per game last season.

Embiid was spectacular when available last season, averaging 34.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 39 games, but missed two months with a meniscus injury. Philadelphia claimed the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference via the play-in tournament after a 47-35 campaign, but lost to the New York Knicks in a six-game first round series.

The 76ers lost contributing guards De’Anthony Melton and Buddy Hield to the Golden State Warriors in the offseason, but added veterans Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon, Reggie Jackson and Caleb Martin in free agency.

The Breakers opened their tour with a 116-87 loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday. Parker Jackson-Cartwright finished with 16 points and nine assists, while Jonah Bolden and Karim Lopez each scored 13 points. Jackson-Cartright, undrafted out of Arizona in 2018, averaged 20.2 points and 6.0 dimes for the Breakers, who were 13-15 ,winning a play-in qualifier and losing the play-in game last season.
