The Denver Nuggets go for their fifth win in a row on Saturday when they travel to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves face off in a rematch of last year’s conference semifinals round that went seven games. Minnesota is trying to take a 2-0 season series lead heading into this Saturday afternoon matchup. The Timberwolves won by three in a close game in Minnesota at the beginning of November. But it is the Nuggets who are rolling right now and are going for their fifth win in a row today. A lot of that run has to do with the incredible Nikola Jokic. The defending league MVP had a career day in Denver’s last game, a 132-123 win over the Sacramento Kings, putting up his fifth consecutive triple-double notching 35 points, 22 rebounds and 17 assists.

The defining moment of the game came when Jokic hit a buzzer beater at the end of the third quarter. The Joker almost went 66 feet with his heave and on top of that it didn’t even look like he was trying all that hard to score. The moon shot bucket put Denver up 25 points going into the final quarter. Jokic was voted as an All-Star starter this week and scored 12 points in the fourth when it looked like he would get the night off early. Sacramento made a huge run in the fourth though scoring the first 14 points of the quarter and got as close as 126-121 late. Denver can’t afford to let its foot up off the gas at all against the Timberwolves today especially on the road.

Minnesota is technically the underdog even at home today though with Denver holding the -4.5 line in its favor. The Timberwolves are coming off a 115-114 win in a rematch of the Western Conference Finals last season beating the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. Despite Kyrie Irving scoring a game-high 36 points, Minnesota was able to outlast the Mavericks. Jaden McDaniels goes for a career-high 27 points including a clutch free throw with just three seconds left in regulation to win the game. Anthony Edwards added 21 points in the win where the Timberwolves avoided three losses in a row.
