The Philadelphia 76ers expect to get Paul George back when they host the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.

After winning back-to-back games for the first time since the beginning of the season, the New Orleans are trying to avoid three losses in a row when they travel to take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night. This is the first game between the Pelicans and 76ers this season. Philadelphia is only a 4.5-point favorite at home even though the Pelicans have only won two games on the road. Philadelphia is working its way back to .500 and made some progress getting there on Wednesday beating the Washington Wizards 109-103.

Tyrese Maxey led the game with 29 points and got the go-ahead score with 23.7 seconds left in the game. It was Washington’s fourth loss in a row and have lost six of its last seven to drop to the worst record in the league below the Pelicans. This is the same calibur of team though and need to take advantage of these opponents who have the worst records in the East and Western Conferences. Paul George is expected to return to the lineup tonight with Joel Embiid expected to return on Sunday against the Orlando Magic.

New Orleans is coming off a 119-100 loss against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday. Portland led wire to wire in a game that wasn’t all that close. Shaedon Sharpe hit a buzzer-beater at the half to put the Blazers up 33. Deni Avdija led the game with 26 points while CJ McCollum led the Pelicans with 23. Zion Williamson returned in the previous game against the Minnesota Timberwolves but was held out against Portland as a precaution after returning from a hamstring strain. It is not clear whether Williamson will suit up tonight but New Orleans desperately needs him, to make this game even close.
