The Los Angeles Clippers host Paul George and the Philadelphia 76ers in his first game against his former team on Wednesday.
The Philadelphia 76ers (1-5) got a peak at what the Paul George era might look like in his regular season debut. George finished with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists in a 118-116 loss to the Phoenix Suns with the game going back-and-forth from the opening tip. Now George has his former team up next on the schedule on Wednesday in the Los Angeles Clippers (3-4), who are coming off their first win at home this season. Los Angeles went all-in on the pairing of Kawhi Leonard and George in the summer of 2019. That led to two of the most successful regular seasons in franchise history and its first trip to the Conference Finals. During the offseason Philadelphia went all-in on George hoping to get the team finally over the hump with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

Maxey greatly benefited from having another All-Star caliber scorer and playmaker on the court in the loss to Phoenix. He shot at least 50 percent for the first time this season, finishing with 32 points on 12-of-22 shooting, 6-of-14 from three.
For Los Angeles this season it has been the James Harden show. Kawhi Leonard has been sidelined to start the season putting the ball in the hands of the former MVP more than it has been in five seasons. Harden is up to 30.1 percent usage, his highest since his last season with the Houston Rockets.
That has led to mixed results for Harden with six double-doubles in seven games, a triple-double and being on pace for his third season averaging five turnovers per game. Los Angeles chose to pay Harden and not George during the offseason, setting the stage for an emotional rivalry game here.
