Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers look to bounce back against the Toronto Raptors in game two of the regular season.

The Philadelphia 76ers and the rest of the NBA will have to wait a little longer for the debut of Joel Embiid (knee), Paul George (knee) and Tyrese Maxey to play together in the a game. The trio did not play in the preseason with Embiid resting and will be without the big man and George for at least the first week of the regular season. That puts a larger load on Maxey, who scored 25 points in the season-opener, but on an inefficient 31 shot attempts. He will try to lead Philadelphia to its first win of the season against a Toronto Raptors team who also lost their season-opener. These early season games without his two All-Star running mates give Maxey the opportunity to lead the team and continue to grow as a player.

Last season Maxey played in three games against Toronto leading Philadelphia to wins in all three. He put up 30-plus points twice and was unguardable from three going 11-22 overall. That level of scoring and efficiency will be key for Philadelphia to get its first win of the season against Toronto.

Philadelphia’s depth and balance was on display despite the loss in its season-opener. Six players finished in double-figures led by Maxey. Starters Kelly Oubre Jr. (21 points) and Andre Drummond (10 points and 13 rebounds) played well in their roles while the bench contributed as well with 35 combined points from Kyle Lowry, Caleb Martin and Guerschon Yabusele.

For Toronto in its season-opening loss the starters combined for just 47 points on 15-43 shooting from the field. Chris Boucher led the team in scoring off the bench with 18 points on 4-5 shooting from three.
