Denver finally comes home to play in front of a friendly crowd after two games overseas against the Phoenix Suns. These teams have built a rivalry over the years in the regular season and the playoffs in recent years with Phoenix sweeping Denver en route to the NBA Finals then two years later Denver knocking Phoenix out of the playoffs on the way to its first NBA Championship.

This season both teams have new looks and fresh faces around their stars. Denver in the offseason signed former MVP Russell Westbrook while Phoenix filled its point guard minutes with veterans Tyus Jones and Monte Morris after a season with an unfocused offense.

Westbrook played in the preseason opener and finished with 12 points, eight assists and four rebounds on 3-10 shooting from the field in 19 minutes. More importantly, he went 3-6 from three and 3-4 from the free-throw line giving Denver a role player that can create offense and get into the paint.

For Phoenix, Jones has fit in well next to Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal averaging 9.0 points and 5.3 assists per game on 50% shooting from the field and 58% shooting from three. With an efficient point guard next to three elite scorers Phoenix has the potential to contend in the Western Conference this season.
