Los Angeles is still without Kawhi Leonard, putting the playmaking duties solely on the shoulders of James Harden. The 10-time All-Star finished with 13 points and eight assists in 17 minutes starting alongside Kris Dunn, Norman Powell, Derrick Jones Jr. and Ivica Zubac in the loss. For Portland, this is the first preseason game overall and the debut for rookie Donovan Clingan. The big man was drafted seventh overall in the lottery by Portland adding to its depth in the paint with Deandre Ayton, Duop Reath, Robert Williams, Jerami Grant and the newly acquired Deni Avdija.

It is also the start of Scoot Henderson’s second season after a tough rookie year. While the overall year was a challenge for Henderson, the final month of the season showed why he was selected with the second overall pick. The final seven games of the season saw Henderson average 19.4 points, 9.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game on 42-42-80 shooting splits.
