That will be a tall order against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs (4-6) who are finally getting to full strength. Devin Vassell played his first game of the season coming off the bench for 21 points in 22 minutes. With Vassell back in the fold San Antonio has one of the most exciting young rosters in the league led by Wembanyama along with Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson and rookie Stephon Castle. That young core will try to slow down the veteran core of Domantas Sabonis, De’Aaron Fox and DeMar DeRozan of Sacramento.

This season DeRozan has been a welcome addition to Sacramento alongside Sabonis and Fox. He is coming off a 34 point game in an overtime win over the Phoenix Suns scoring 24 points in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Wembanyama is off to a slower start this season than how he finished last season. He has had some big games and some more modest ones averaging 18.3 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game. The 2023-2024 Rookie of the Year has the opportunity for a big game against Sacramento who is playing the second night of a back-to-back.

Another potential Rookie of the Year in the making for San Antonio could be Castle, who is coming off his best game of the year. The rookie is averaging 14.0 points, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game as a starter of the last three games for San Antonio and has an opportunity next to Wembanyama, Vassell and veteran point guard Chris Paul to make an impact.
