The San Antonio Spurs travel to the Charlotte Hornets on Friday hoping to break into playoff contention.
The Charlotte Hornets are at the do-or-die stage of their season as the San Antonio Spurs visit the Spectrum Center on Friday, with each team currently fourth in their respective divisions. Only the New Orleans Pelicans sit below San Antonio (22-26) in the Southwest, but the Spurs can seal back-to-back wins for the first time in more than a month if they manage to get the goods in North Carolina. Meanwhile, 12-36 Charlotte has lost six straight coming into this fixture and would need to embark on the most prolific of streaks pronto in order to stand a real shot at making the postseason.

While that seems all but impossible for the Hornets, the same can’t be said for a San Antonio side that’s just a few wins off cracking the top 10 in the Western Conference.
Both De’Aaron Fox and Victor Wembanyama each topped the scoring charts with 24 points apiece in Wednesday’s nail-biting win at Atlanta.
The French phenomenon broke the tie with a last-ditch free throw and just 2.4 seconds remaining on the clock against the Hawks, delivering the Spurs their first win in February as a result.
Wembanyama continues to deliver for his team and is turning the off-the-backboard dunk into his signature move after registering another prime example in the recent loss at Memphis.
Charlotte would give a lot to have a player of that caliber on its roster, and all signs suggest the franchise is set for a priority place in this year’s NBA Draft lottery.
LaMelo Ball, Grant Williams, Brandon Miller and Tre Mann are each set to miss out for Friday’s hosts, while Charles Bassey is day-to-day for San Antonio.
