The Chicago Bulls and Phoenix Suns are both trying to end extended losing streaks when they tip off on Saturday night.

The Chicago Bulls hope to turn it around when they head back home on Saturday to host the Phoenix Suns. Chicago has lost five in a row and six of its last seven games. But Phoenix isn’t exactly firing on all cylinders losing its last four games in a row and seven of its last eight. This will be the first matchup between these two this season. The Suns are now three games under .500 and sitting just outside of the top 10 in the Western Conference and behind the Golden State Warriors who hold the last play-in spot. Chicago holds the 10th and final play-in spot heading into this matchup in the East but is 12 games under .500.

Chicago is coming off a very tough loss when the NBA came back from the All-Star break on Thursday dropping to the New York Knicks on the road 113-111 in overtime. Karl-Anthony Towns couldn’t be stopped with 32 points and 18 points and Jalen Brunson added 22 points with 12 assists for the Knicks. Josh Giddey still had a strong game for the Bulls leading the team with 27 points. Nikola Vucevic had 22 points and a chance to send the game to a second overtime but he missed an eight-foot jumper at the buzzer. Vucevic also had a chance to win the game with two seconds in the fourth quarter but had his shot blocked by Mikal Bridges. The Bulls have no time to dwell on what could have been with the Suns likely having the slight advantage even on the road tonight.

The Suns are also coming off of a loss on Thursday 120-109 to the San Antonio Spurs on the road. The headlines coming into the game all had to do with Spurs’ star Victor Wembanyama being ruled out for the rest of the season due to a blood clot in his right shoulder. Wembanyama is expected to return next season and his teammates responded to his absence with inspired basketball with De’Aaron Fox scoring 11 straight points in the final three minutes to separate and walk away with a win. The game was played at the Moody Center which is on the UT Austin campus where Kevin Durant played in college. Durant scored 22 points in his return to campus and Royce O’Neale had a game-high with 27.
