The Golden State Warriors tip off against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, for the first time since last season’s playoffs.

The Golden State Warriors go for their third win in a row when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. This is a rematch of the Western Conference semifinals, where the Timberwolves won 4-1 to advance to the conference finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. This is the first game of the season between these Western Conference rivals. The Timberwolves hold a 2.5-game lead in sixth place in the West with a 15-9 record, while the Warriors are in eighth with a 13-12 record. Minnesota is trying to get back in the win column after its five-game winning streak was snapped after a 108-105 victory from the Phoenix Suns on Monday. The Warriors are coming off a dominating 123-91 win over the Chicago Bulls on the road Sunday. Golden State is trying to avoid dropping back to .500 tonight, but it should be optimistic with the team going 7-2 in San Francisco. Golden State will be the slight 3.5-point favorite to keep this winning streak rolling.

Minnesota is coming off a tough three-point loss, despite Anthony Edwards scoring a game-high 40 points against Phoenix. Mark Williams led the Suns with 22 points and seven rebounds. The Timberwolves shot 47 percent from the field, but they struggled from three, hitting at just 26 percent. Edwards connected on 15 of his 21 shots, and Julius Randle scored 21 points, but almost every other Timberwolf struggled. It didn’t help that Rudy Gobert was ejected for a flagrant foul in the third, after he was having a good game with 15 points and eight rebounds.

After losing back-to-back games, the Warriors have now won back-to-back after their comfortable victory over the sliding Bulls. Brandin Podziemski led the Warriors with 21 points, while Golden State was happy to have Jimmy Butler back in the lineup, who put up 19. Golden State cruised in the second half, outscoring Chicago by 21 in the fourth quarter. The Warriors were unstoppable from behind the arc, hitting at 47 percent from three. Golden State had seven players connecting from long distance. That was compared to the Bulls shooting just 28 percent from three. Golden State is still persevering through several injuries, with Draymond Green and Al Horford not expected to return until Dec. 14.
