The Minnesota Timberwolves (48-33) enter the final game of the regular season with control of their fate. They take on the lowly Utah Jazz (17-64) in game 82 with a top six seed on the line. If Minnesota wins, it avoids the Play-In Tournament. If they lose, Minnesota could be either the six or seven seed in the playoffs. Anthony Edwards and Minnesota have won two of the three games against Utah this season including the most recent game last month. Edwards was unstoppable going off for 41 points in a 26 point Minnesota win. Utah has won just two games in the last month and a half, both against teams in the lottery, while losing the other 20 games dropping it all the way down to a tie for last place in the NBA.

Utah is tied with the Washington Wizards heading into the final day of the NBA season in the NBA Draft Lottery odds. With another loss Utah will give itself the best possible opportunity for Duke’s Cooper Flagg or another one of the future stars in the 2025 NBA Draft.

This season Edwards has led Minnesota to both wins against Utah while missing the only game they lost. In the first two games Edwards averaged 38.5 points, 6.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game on 62-48-77 shooting splits. 

Minnesota won those two games by a combined 51 points. Utah was able to steal a win with Edwards out of the lineup in a 117-116 thriller. John Collins led Utah with 29 points and 12 rebounds on 12-16 shooting in his best game of the season.
