Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs host the Utah Jazz in NBA preseason action. Watch free on Fubo.

There are not many opportunities for statement wins in preseason basketball, but the San Antonio Spurs might be coming off of one. In their last game Victor Wembanyama made his preseason debut and played his first minutes alongside veteran Chris Paul. The duo combined for just 16 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, but also showed how dangerous this San Antonio team can be with a steady hand at the point and Wembanyama leading the charge. Rookie Stephon Castle also showed flashes with a 17 point performance in the win. They take on the Utah Jazz who are 3-0 in the preseason so far led by a deep cast of young players all looking to make the rotation for the upcoming season.

Lauri Markkanen is leading the way for Utah through three games averaging 18.7 points per game shooting 41.7% from three in the preseason. He is the foundational piece for the future for Utah, while a cast of young talent around him including three rookies have a chance to make a significant impact this season.

So far through three preseason games, first round pick Isaiah Collier is second among rookies averaging 5.0 assists per game. Fellow rookie Kyle Filiposwki is averaging 3.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in under 10 minutes per game giving the team both a point guard and big man off the bench.

Cody Williams, the team’s lottery pick this offseason has shown some flashes in the preseason. He is averaging 4.3 points per game in 25.7 minutes per game shooting just 33.3% from the field. Getting Williams going here in the preseason could be the difference in Utah’s success this season.
