    Nikola Jokic leads the Denver Nuggets against the Washington Wizards who he scored a career-high 56 points against earlier this season.

    Earlier this season Nikola Jokic in the first game between the Denver Nuggets (43-24) scored a career-high 56 points in a loss to the last-placed Washington Wizards (14-51). In that game the three-time MVP scored more points than he had in any game prior, but saw the rest of his team only score 57 total points in a 122-113 loss. That game came at a low-point in the season where Denver was just 11-10 overall. Since then  Jokic has pushed Denver up to the second seed in the Western Conference going 32-14 overall. Washington pulled off the upset in the first game led by a monster game from Jordan Poole.

    Poole finished the game with 29 points on a career-high nine made three-pointers. He was able to hit big shot after big shot to counter Jokic and his career night, upsetting Denver for the first time in three seasons that totalled six straight wins.

    For Jokic in the loss he finished with 56 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists on 22-39 shooting overall. Jokic was taken out of his comfort zone as the best playmaker in the league and forced to be a scorer.

    The rest of the team combined to shoot 14-56 shooting from the field. This season Denver is 25-10 in games where Jokic dishes out more than 10 assists and is just 11-7 in 18 games when he has eight or fewer assists.
