Donovan Mitchell and the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers play Game 2 of their first round series against the Miami Heat on Wednesday.

The Cleveland Cavaliers took care of business in Game 1 at home against the Miami Heat. They cruised to a 21-point win led by the trio of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland and Ty Jerome off the bench. That trio combined for 85 points, nearly outscoring Miami as a team. Mitchell led the way with 30 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals in just 33 minutes. He was able to slice the Miami defense in two all game, shooting 11-of-19 from the field. Garland added 27 points and five assists. When either member of Cleveland’s All-Star backcourt went to the bench Jerome showed why he was a Sixth Man of the Year Finalist with 28 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three.

This season Cleveland is 11-3 when Jerome scores at least 20 points between the regular season and the playoffs. He adds depth, playmaking and shooting to a team that already has two All-Stars in the backcourt and two more in the paint.

Miami was led by Bam Adebayo in the loss with 24 points and nine rebounds. He was one of four Miami players to finish in double figures. Tyler Herro finished with 21 points, Davion Mitchell added 18 points and nine assists off the bench, and Andrew Wiggins went for 14 points.

After winning two Play-In Tournament games as the 10th seed, Miami entered the playoffs as the ultimate underdog. Herro scored 68 points combined in those two games. Since the trade deadline between the regular season and Play-In games Herro has averaged 24.8 points per game, leading Miami to the playoffs.
