New York is going for the season-series sweep tonight, after dominating Utah in Game 1 146-112 on Dec. 12 at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks jumped out to a staggering 23-0 lead to open that game, and it was all downhill from there. New York outscored Utah 41-13 in the first quarter alone, while Jalen Brunson scored a game-high 33 points. Brunson hit a three-pointer to go up 23, which was the most since the league started keeping track in 1997. The Knicks are expected to dominate once again with a 12.5-point line in their favor even on the road tonight.

The Clippers’ win put them at .500 since the beginning of November, when they got off to a terrible start. The duo of Kawhi Leonard (29 points) and Bennedict Mathurin (28 points) was enough to combat a game-high 35 points from New York’s Karl-Anthony Towns. Leonard scored 20 or more for his 42nd straight game, which is the second-longest in the NBA and third-longest in Clippers’ history. New York trailed by as much as 15, and even though it got close a couple of times near the end of the game, it couldn’t fully complete the comeback. Jalen Brunson added 28 points, while OG Anunoby had 22.

The Jazz are coming off a 119-116 home win over the Warriors, which dropped Golden State to .500, and the Clippers are entering the top eight in the Western Conference. Brice Sensabaugh scored a team-high 21 points, and Blake Hinson, who is on a two-way contract, hit the go-ahead three-pointer for the shot of his life in the final minute. Utah avoided the season-series sweep at the hands of the Warriors in the process. Kyle Filipowski added 19 points with an impressive 15 rebounds to help Utah rebound from losing eight of its nine previous games. The Knicks will present a much tougher challenge, though, as they sit in third in the East.
