With the home team looking to capture its first win of the season, Bethune-Cookman welcomes Alabama State to Daytona Stadium for a SWAC matchup in Daytona Beach on Saturday. 

The Wildcats have struggled in the early going opening the season with four consecutive losses. Bethune-Cookman is 0-4 overall and 0-2 at home this season, and will now open conference play against Alabama State (1-2). The Hornets sandwiched a win between two losses in the early going, with a 0-1 road record to start the year. Saturday’s matchup will be the conference opener for both sides, with Alabama State winning three in a row over the Wildcats. Last season, the Hornets captured a 19-14 win over Bethune Cookman.

Most recently, Alabama State fell to Samford by a final score of 12-7 last week at Pete Hanna Stadium last Saturday night. Marcus Harris II led the Hornets offense with 58 rushing yards and a touchdown in theloss, while Bakari Dailey had a 47-yard catch. The Bulldogs took the lead for good on ao ne-yard touchdown run by Demonta Wilkerson to secure the win. 

As for Bethune-Cookman, the Warriors dropped their fourth consecutive loss in a 38-37 heartbreaker to Clark Atlanta last week. A 55-yard field goal by Leonardo Cabrera was the difference. Warriors quarterback Cam Ransom’s 382 passing yards and four total touchdowns weren’t enough in the loss. 

Bethune-Cookman looks to bounce back at home against Alabama State on Saturday.
