Florida State tries to get back on track in its home opener against Boston College on Monday night.
Week 1 of the 2024 college football wraps up Monday night with an ACC matchup. Florida State (0-1, 0-0 ACC) returns from its overseas Week 0 opener against Georgia Tech, which they lost 24-21 on a last-second field goal in Ireland. The Seminoles are looking for their first win of the season and are back in conference play in their home opener, against Boston College at Bobby Bowden Field at Doak S. Campbell Stadium.

A major point of emphasis for Florida State this week should be opening up the offense and trying to create more explosive plays – especially in the passing game. Transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei completed 19 of his 27 pass attempts last week, but for a total of just 193 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.
Defensively, the front for the ‘Noles will try to do a better job stopping the run. Georgia Tech averaged 5.3 yards per carry last week.
On the other side is a Boston College team beginning a new era under first year head coach Bill O’Brien. O’Brien joins the Eagles after working as the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots in the NFL last year. He replaces Jeff Hafley, who left this offseason to be the defensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers after four seasons in Chestnut Hill.
Leading the way for O’Brien’s Eagles is junior quarterback Thomas Castellanos. The dual-threat passer was named to the Manning and Unitas Award watch lists this preseason.
Florida State has won the last five head-to-head matchups against Boston College. Last year, the Seminoles just got by up in Chestnut Hill, 31-29.
