Cal plays its first-ever visit to Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday when the Golden Bears travel to take on Auburn.
In non-conference action on Saturday, Cal (1-0, 0-0 ACC) travels to the southeast for a matchup with Auburn (1-0, 0-0 SEC). This will be the first FBS game for each team this season after they started by playing FCS teams last week. Cal hosted UC Davis and pulled away late to beat the Aggies 31-13. Running back Jaydn Ott scored two touchdowns on offense, while the Golden Bears’ defense forced three interceptions and held the Aggies to just 4-of-13 on third downs. Auburn also hosted an in-state opponent, Alabama A&M. The Tigers breezed by the Bulldogs 73-3, as quarterback Payton Thorne threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns on just 13-of-21 passing.

Backup QB Hank Brown entered the game once the score was out of reach and threw for another 96 yards and two touchdowns on 3-of-5 passing. The Tigers totaled 628 yards of offense in that game while allowing just 240 yards on defense.
Saturday’s game will be the second half of a home-and-home between Cal and Auburn that started last year. The Tigers went to Berkley last year, and scored the lone second-half points of the game to win 14-10. Both defenses dominated that one, with the game seeing seven combined turnovers – four fumbles lost and three interceptions. The two teams also combined to go 8-of-30 on third downs and 3-of-7 on fourth downs.
