Columbia, coming off its first Ivy League title in 63 years, opens its season on Friday night with a trip to face Lafayette (2-1) at Fisher Stadium in Easton, Pennsylvania. The Lions have never beaten the Leopards at Fisher Stadium and are 2-3 in their last five meetings. Columbia finished 7-3 last season and at 5-2 in the Ivy League shared the championship with Harvard and Dartmouth. Lafayette has won its last two games coming off a 6-6 campaign in 2024.

The Leopards came from behind in the fourth quarter to take their Patriot League opener on Saturday 42-37 at Georgetown. Kente Edwards scored four touchdowns, including a one-yard plunge with 9:55 left to give Lafayette the lead for good, and finished with 255 yards on 19 carries. Dean DeNobile was 18-of-28 for 290 yards and two touchdowns with an interception and Elijah Steward caught six passes for 108 yards and a score.

The Lions return seven starters on offense and five on defense, including All-America defensive back Hayden McDonald, who finished last season with five interceptions and seven pass break-ups. Quarterback Chase Goodwin returns after playing in five games last season, completing 66.7% of his throws for 879 yards with six touchdowns and three picks.

Lafayette leads the all-time series 29-13-2, including a 14-0-1 mark at home. Columbia beat the Leopards 31-20 at home last season. After losing at FBS Bowling Green in its opener, Lafayette has road wins at Stonehill and Georgetown on its resume as it takes on the Lions in its home opener to open a stretch of four straight games at Fisher Stadium.
