After opening the season with a road loss at Georgia Tech, Georgia State has won two consecutive games to improve to 2-1 on the year. The Panthers are a perfect 2-0 at home in Atlanta, and will now open Sun Belt play riding a two-game winning streak. Georgia Southern, on the other hand, saw a two-game winning streak snapped by No. 5 Ole Miss last week. The Eagles are now an even 2-2 on the season with a 1-1 road record. Last season, Georgia Southern won a shootout 44-27 over Georgia State.

Most recently, Georgia State pulled off an upset with a 36-32 victory over Vanderbilt in Atlanta last week. Christian Veilleux threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Ted Hurst with 15 seconds remaining to stun Vandy. Veilleux finished the game with 269 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Hurst had a team-high 128 receiving yards and two scores.
