Despite turnover on the roster there are once again high expectations in Oxford, as the Rebels begin their sixth year under head coach Lane Kiffin. Last year, Kiffin led the team to a 10-3 record and Gator Bowl win, but now will try to take another step forward and earn a place in the College Football Playoff.

Ole Miss had 14 players leave for the NFL this spring, including five top-100 picks. That includes quarterback Jaxson Dart, who was a first-round pick by the New York Giants.

Stepping in for him will be redshirt sophomore Austin Simmons, who joined the Rebels as a three-star recruit in the Class of 2023. Simmons appeared in nine games last year throwing two touchdown passes on 32 pass attempts.

Georgia State is looking to pull off the upset kicking off the second season under head coach Dell McGee, who went 3-9 last season. Joining McGee’s staff this year is former NFL head coach Hue Jackson, who will serve as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach after being the program’s assistant general manager last year.
