Kaidon Salter and Liberty will take the field against Seth McGowan and New Mexico State on Saturday night.

The Liberty Flames will head on the road in the second week of college football to take on the New Mexico State Aggies at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces, New Mexico, under a breezy, 81-degree night on Saturday. The Flames won their first contest of the season with a 41-24 domination at home against Campbell. Starting quarterback Kaidon Salter threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns through the air. The main benefactor of Salter’s success was Treon Sibley who caught five passes for 109 yards one of his two touchdowns. Sibley averaged 21.8 yards per reception along with Elijah Canion who averaged 25.7 yards per catch finishing with 77 yards on three receptions. Quinton Cooley and Billy Lucas split the responsibilities on the ground. The former ran 16 times for 110 yards and a touchdown while the latter ran 17 times for 78 yards and another touchdown.

The Aggies also came away with a win after the team’s first game on the road last week against Southeast Missouri. The game was tied 10-10 at the halftime break and New Mexico State was down 13-10 going into the fourth quarter before it exploded for 13 points in the final quarter and a 23-16 win.

Running the ball was the only thing working for NMSU in the win. They totaled just 60 yards through the air as a team with Parker Awad having 37 yards and an interception. Seth McGowan carried the ball 11 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Mike Washington ran 18 times for 50 yards as well for the team.
