With the visitors trying to snap a two-game losing streak on the road against a CAA rival, Maine visits conference rival Merrimack at Duane Stadium in North Andover on Saturday.
After opening the season with a win against Colgate, the Black Bears have dropped two-straight games against Montana State and Monmouth to drop to 1-2 on the season. Maine is also 0-1 in conference play and has yet to win a road game this season. Merrimack, on the other hand, snapped a two-game losing streak with a win over Bucknell last week after falling to Air Force and UConn to start the season. This is the second time these two teams have met with Maine winning a 2021 matchup by a final score of 31-26.

Most recently, Merrimack righted the ship with a 31-14 win over Bucknell in Lewisburg last week. Running back Jermaine Corbett ran for 166 yards and a 25-yard touchdown in the win, while Donte Williams led the defense with nine tackles and a key interception. The win was Mike Gennetti’s first as the Merrimack head coach.
As for Maine, the Black Bears got dominated by Monmouth in a 51-22 loss at Alfond Stadium in Orono last week. Shakur Smalls led Maine with a career-high 10 tackles while Dorian Blackwell had eight tackes and a pass breakup. Quarterback Carter Peevy threw for 159 yards and rushed five times for 34 yards in the loss.
Maine looks to get back on track on the road against Merrimack on Saturday afternoon.
