Those offensive stats come after a tremendous game from the Gophers last week, where they were in complete control routing Northwestern State last week 66-0. Minnesota beat Buffalo 23-10 in its season opener. The Gophers spread around the ball making a nightmare for the Demons, as nine Minnesota players scored a touchdown. Freshman QB Drake Lindsey took care of the ball and led Minnesota with 139 yards on 8-of-9 passing with one touchdown through the air and one on the ground. Lindsey didn’t need to be in the game very long for the Gophers to dominate. The wild thing is that the team didn’t need very long to put up 66, as the final could have been much worse. The Gophers scored five first-quarter touchdowns, and the game ended with 6:15 left in the fourth quarter with severe weather in the area. The first ever matchup between Minnesota and Northwestern State couldn’t have gone much better in favor of the Gophers.

While Cal is not coming off as dominating victory, the Golden Bears had an impressive 35-3 win over Texas Southern last week. Junior running back Kendrick Raphael was the star of the show against the Tigers, running for a career-high 131 yards with a score. Raphael is a transfer from North Carolina State and is immediately making his presence felt, as he averaged 7.3 yards per carry against Texas Southern to keep the Tigers winless on the season. This feels like it is going to be a close and high-scoring game against the Gophers in Berkley, CA tonight.
