Mississippi State will head on the road in Week 5 of the college football season to take on the top-ranked team in the nation and Southeastern Conference rival, Texas, on Saturday afternoon at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas. The Longhorns come into this game undefeated through four contests and have yet to play a game in the SEC with this being their conference opener. They dominated in their season opener against Colorado State on the road 52-0 before heading on the road to the reigning champions, Michigan, and winning 31-12. They came back home in Week 3 beating UTSA 56-7 following it up with a win against Louisiana-Monroe last week 51-3. Quinn Ewers leads the team in passing with 691 yards and eight touchdowns with two interceptions this season. He went down with an injury a couple of weeks ago which led to Arch Manning taking over for him and starting last game as well. The Alabama transfer Isaiah Bon has been the team’s best receiver with 15 receptions for 290 yards and three touchdowns.

The Bulldogs are 1-3 heading into this week with a 0-1 record against conference opponents in that time frame. They won their first game of the year against Eastern Kentucky 56-7 and have since lost three straight games. They went on the road and lost to Arizona State 30-23, came back home and lost to Toledo 41-17, and last week was taken down at home against by Florida 45-28 in their first conference game.
