The Citadel hosts North Greenville in NCAA Division II football action on Saturday. Watch the game live on Fubo.

The Citadel (1-1) has already exceeded last season’s victory total and on Saturday looks to get a second win when it hosts Division II North Greenville (0-1) at Johnson Hagood Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina. The Trailblazers make the trip from upstate Tigerville to face the Bulldogs, who were 0-11 a season ago. The Citadel last made a postseason appearance in 2016, when they lost to in the second round of the FCS playoffs after getting a first-round bye. North Greenville’s last visit to the Division II playoffs came as an independent in 2016, as well, winning a pair of playoff games before a regional final loss. The Bulldogs, under second-year head coach Maurice Drayton (1-12), play in the Southern Conference while the Trailblazers, from the Gulf South Conference, are led by Jeff Farrington (52-58), who is in his 11th season.

The Citadel dropped a 23-20 decision to visiting South Carolina State on Sept. 7, never getting the ball past midfield in two possessions after closing to within a field goal with 11:30 remaining. Johnathan Bennett threw for 169 yards and a touchdown while also throwing a pick and also scored on a one-yard run. The Bulldogs were outgained 422-275 and ran only 48 plays to 71 for the visitors.

North Greenville forced overtime on Dylan Ramirez’s one-yard touchdown run with 5:29 remaining but lost to Keiser (Florida), 23-20. The Seahawks entered the season as the top-ranked team in NAIA football. Ramirez threw for 244 yards with an interception while running for 64. Reeves Dacus missed a 51-yard field goal attempt at the gun and misfired from 33 yards away in overtime.

Corey Ibrahim leads the run game for The Citadel with 120 yards while Bennett has two TD runs. Bennett is 23-of-39 for 339 yards with a touchdown and an interception so far and Dervon Pesnell is his favorite target with five catches for 158 yards. The Bulldogs are 2-0 all-time against the Trailblazers, most recently getting a 45-13 win on Sept. 18, 2021, at home.
