North Texas will try to stay perfect at home when it hosts Florida Atlantic in an American Athletic Conference game on Saturday.
Entering Week 7 of the 2024 college football season there are only five teams left unbeaten in AAC conference play. One of those teams is North Texas (4-1, 1-0 AAC), which has a back-loaded conference schedule and has only played one conference game so far. The Mean Green have their second conference game this Saturday, when they visit Florida Atlantic (2-3, 0-1 AAC) at FAU Football Stadium in Boca Raton. Both teams are coming off of a bye week heading into this one.

North Texas played its first conference game last time out, two weeks ago at home against Tulsa. The Mean Green won that one convincingly, by a final score of 52-20. Jordan Davis‘ offense put up 618 total yards and averaged 10.3 yards per play in that one, with quarterback Chandler Morris throwing for 439 yards and five touchdowns.
FAU had an FCS matchup last week, at home against Wagner. The Owls won that game comfortably, 41-10. Running back CJ Campbell ran for 129 yards and two scores in that one, while backup running back Zuberi Mobley added another 93 yards and a touchdown.
These teams last met in 2022, a game that was a 45-28 win for the Mean Green in Denton. Before that, they hadn’t played since 2018, so despite being conference opponents there isn’t too much familiarity between the players currently on the rosters. FAU leads the ball-time series 8-6, going back to the first meeting in 2004.
