Saturday’s FCS slate includes a big bounce-back matchup between two ranked teams in the Big Sky. Both No. 24 Northern Arizona (3-3, 1-1 Big Sky) and No. 14 Montana (4-2, 1-1 Big Sky) suffered their first conference win of the season last week, and now they meet each other at Washington-Grizzly Stadium as they try to get back on the right track. It’s a particularly big spot for defending conference champion Montana, which was picked to repeat as conference champion in both the media and coaches preseason polls.

Northern Arizona faced a tough test last week, on the road at No. 10 Idaho. The Lumberjacks lost that one 23-17.

Meanwhile, Montana was at home and ended up in a thriller against then-unranked Weber State. The Grizzlies trailed 28-10 early, stormed back with 25 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime, before falling in the extra frame in a 55-48 game.

When Montana and Northern Arizona played last year, it was the Lumberjacks coming out on top with a 28-14 win in Flagstaff. Montana had won the previous two meetings and four of the last five before that. The Grizzlies lead the all-time series 38-15, including a 22-5 head-to-head record in the games played in Missoula.
