No. 19 USC hosts Northwestern for a Big Ten showdown on Friday night. The Trojans haven’t won back-to-back games in five weeks, but it will try to change that tonight. USC is still 6-2 on the season, and the Trojans have a 4-1 record against conference opponents so far. Both teams played Nebraska in their last game. USC beat the Huskers last week 21-17 in a game that the Trojans were losing most of the game until mounting a nice comeback. Northwestern is coming off a bye week, after losing 28-21 to Nebraska two weeks ago. After starting the season 1-2, Northwestern went on a four-game winning streak before falling to the Huskers. The Wildcats come into this game with a 5-3 overall record and 3-2 record in the Big Ten. USC is expected to be the big favorite at the Coliseum tonight with a -14.5-point spread in the Trojans’ favor. USC has never lost to Northwestern in their first five matchups. The last matchup between the Wildcats and Trojans came on New Year’s Day in 1996.

USC won on the road in Nebraska with Husker fans dressing in all black. The Trojans weren’t intimidated though, and were led by running back King Miller. He had 129 rushing yards and he scored the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. QB Jayden Maiava has had a great year throwing the ball, but struggled against Nebraska throwing for 135 yards on just 9-of-23 passing. He didn’t throw a touchdown, but he did throw an interception. Maiava will have to turn up the volume on offense against this usually stout Wildcat defense.
