Army won its first American Athletic Conference game last week and it was on the road against Florida Atlantic. Army handled its business in Boca Raton beating the Owls 24-7. It was the Black Knights’ first game in the state of Florida in 20 years and it was Army’s first AAC win ever. That is not to mention it was the first time Army and Florida Atlantic ever played one another. The game wasn’t even in the same stratosphere when it came to the rushing game. The Black Knights outrushed Florida Atlantic 405-42. That strategy alone will give Army the leg up against Rice but they may need to bring a little bit more balance to these Rice Owls because it only had 44 passing yards. Florida Atlantic made it close in the second quarter bringing the score within seven. But the stout Army defense clamped down in the second half and pitched a shutout. Army are the seven point betting favorites at home this afternoon.

This is the first game Rice will play where its opponent isn’t from the state of Texas. The Owls are coming off a lopsided loss against Houston 33-7 to drop 1-2 on the young season. Rice was only able to put up 159 yards in the 43rd edition of the Bayou Bucket. Rice was getting shut out out most of the game and was only able to score in the fourth quarter. This opponent will not be as tough as Houston but Rice will have to figure something out quick on offense to keep up with this mighty Army rushing attack.
