The Fighting Irish have had more than a week to prepare for their first home game of the season tonight. The Hurricanes faced off in their backyard in Miami Gardens on the last day of August, not having beaten a top-10 team in eight years. That opponent all those years ago was Notre Dame. Miami struck again to open the season beating the Fighting Irish on a Carter Davis 47-yard field goal with 1:07 left on the clock. Notre Dame was unable to respond the rest of the way. The loss was a tough one to stomach as Notre Dame mounted a comeback with a 17-point fourth quarter, after it was down 21-7 after three quarters. Freshman QB CJ Carr made his first start for Notre Dame, and finished the night going 19 for 30 with 221 yards passing. Carr also threw two touchdowns and an interception. The touchdowns went to Micah Gilbert and Jordan Faison. Expect Carr to progress and make even further strides tonight in his first ever home game.

Texas A&M has won its first two games as expected by very similar scores. The Aggies beat the UTSA Roadrunners in their opener 42-24, and followed that up by a 44-22 win last week against Utah State in a battle of the Aggies. Marcel Reed was the fuel to Texas A&M’s engine, as the QB threw for three touchdown passes and ran for another. If Reed plays another game like that, the Aggies will have a great chance at pulling off this upset tonight. The key will for the defense to keep pace.
