Villanova will head on the road in Week 8 of the college football season to take on Maine at Harold Alfond Sports Stadium in Orono, Maine, on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats come into this week with a 5-1 record and a bye through its first eight weeks of the season. Its only loss this year came on the road against Maryland just three weeks ago 38-20. Since then they have beaten Long Island University 24-10 at home and Stony Brook on the road last week 42-24. Before that, they beat Towson at home, Colgate on the road, and Youngstown State at home. Connor Watkins, a senior quarterback, leads the team with 839 yards and six touchdowns under center. He has also yet to throw an interception this season. His favorite target has been former MEAC receiver Devin Smith. He has 20 receptions for 242 yards and three touchdowns averaging 12.1 yards per reception.

The Black Bears are 3-3 this season overall. However, in their last three games, they are 2-1 after starting the season with a win followed by two losses. They beat Merrimack on the road 26-15 and followed it up with a road win over Albany 24-20. After a bye week at the beginning of October, they lost last week on the road 44-21 against Delaware.
Former Mercer quarterback, Carter Peevy, a fifth-year senior, leads the team with 1,134 yards and seven touchdowns with four interceptions. Montigo Moss, another fifth-year senior, has 28 receptions for 317 yards and two touchdowns to lead the team. Jaharie Martin leads the ground game with 275 yards and four scores.
