WIth three straight wins to open the year with a perfect record so far this season, Grand Valley State welcomes West Florida to Lubbers Stadium in Allendale on Saturday. The Lakers are off to a great start this season with a perfect 3-0 record after a win last week at home against Wisconsin-LA Crosse. Grand Valley State is a perfect 2-0 at home this season and will wrap up their non-conference slate hoping to start 4-0. West Florida, on the other hand, has split its first two games of the season with a 1-1 record. Last week, the Argos lost in double overtime in their first conference game. This is the first matchup between these two teams in school history.

Most recently, No. 2 Grand Valley State held off Wisconin-La Crosse by a final score of 20-13 last week at Lubbers Stadium. Junior quarterback Ike Udengwu threw for 104 yards and Kenneth Jones ran for 53 yards in the win, while the defense limited UW-La Crosse to 304 total yards of offense. 

As for West Florida, the Argos comeback bid fell short in a 35-33 loss to No. 23 West Alabama in overtime last week. Argos quarterback Marcus Stokes threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns but was also picked off twice. Ja’Corey Scott had 79 receiving yards and a touchdown in the loss.
