They led the ACC by two games over the No. 10-ranked team in the country, Virginia. Duke closed out the regular season with a home win against in-state rival, No. 17 North Carolina, 76-61. Cameron Boozer led the team with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists in 37 minutes of action.

In the quarterfinal round of the tournament, Duke matched up with Florida and won by only one point, 80-79. They led for the majority of the game, allowing the much weaker team to stick around. Isaiah Evans dropped a team-high 32 points, while Malik Brown pulled down 12 rebounds. Boozer finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.

On the other side, the Tigers also had to work their way into the semifinals after winning in the quarterfinal round on Thursday. They finished as the No. 5 team in the conference with a 12-6 record in the ACC, five games back from Duke and tied with No. 4-seed UNC. Clemson took down Wake Forest in the second round, 71-62, on the back of 11 points and eight rebounds from RJ Godfrey.

In the quarterfinal round against North Carolina, the No. 19-ranked team in the country without their star player, Clemson was up eight points at the halftime break and pulled out to a 20-point lead early in the second half. They let UNC come back, finishing the game on a 21-7 run, but they still won the game, 80-79. Nick Davidson provided the spark that Miami needed in the quarterfinals, pouring in a team-best 17 points, on 5-of-6 shooting, with 11 rebounds. Dillon Hunter chipped in 14 points and dished out a team-high three assists. The winner of this game will advance to play the winner of the other semifinal between No. 2-seeded Virginia and No. 3-seeded Miami on Saturday.
