Appalachian State and Arkansas State will each look to keep their win streak intact when the teams meet in Sun Belt action on Thursday.

The Appalachian State Mountaineers will travel on Thursday to take on the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a Sun Belt contest at the First National Bank Arena. The Mountaineers come into Thursday’s game with an overall record of 11-7 and a conference record of 5-2 for a spot in third place in the conference standings. The team has won five straight games with the most recent being a 58-50 win over James Madison on Saturday afternoon. Myles Tate led the Mountaineers’ offense with a 20-point performance and Dior Conners finished right behind him, chipping in 18 points of his own. Myles and CJ Huntley each pulled down eight rebounds to lead on the boards. Overall, the team shot well at 41 percent from the field and 50 percent from long range, sinking 10 three-pointers in the win.

The Red Wolves are currently in second place in the conference standings with a Sun Belt record of 5-2 and an overall record of 14-5. Arkansas State also has a win streak going, but it currently sits at three games after the team beat Georgia State handily on Saturday in an 85-59 victory at home. Joseph Pinion and Taryn Todd led the offense with 14 and 12 points, respectively, but despite only two finishing in double figures, the Red Wolves were able to earn the win. Every rostered player with the exception of three added points to the scoreboard in a game that saw the team shoot 39 percent from the field and 33 percent from beyond the arc. The team only missed one of its 11 free throws in the win.

Appalachian State and Arkansas State have met a total of 16 times and the Mountaineers hold a slight advantage in the series at 9-7. Last season, the teams met twice and Mountaineers took the first win in an 80-57 victory before the Red Wolves earned a narrow 67-65 victory just nine days later.
