Big 12 basketball play continues Tuesday night as West Virginia hosts Arizona State in men’s college basketball action.

The Arizona State Sun Devils will travel to take on the No. 23 West Virginia Mountaineers on Tuesday night in a Big 12 battle at the WVU Coliseum. The Sun Devils are currently in 14th place in the Big 12 standings with a conference record of 1-5 and an overall record of 10-7. The team has lost four straight games with the most recent being a 67-60 defeat by Cincinnati on Saturday. Jayden Quaintance led the Sun Devils in scoring with 15 points while Alston Mason and BJ Freeman joined him in double figures with 13 and 12 points respectively. Quaintance also led the team on the boards with 14 rebounds for a double-double. The team only shot 35 percent from the field and 27 percent from beyond the arc making it difficult to keep the Bearcats within reach.

The Mountaineers hold the sixth place position in the Big 12 standings with a conference record of 4-2 and an overall record of 13-4. On Saturday, the team pulled off a huge upset over No. 2 Iowa State, winning 64-57 in front of a home crowd of 14,000 fans. Javon Small led the West Virginia offense with 27 points and despite Amani Hansberry being the only other Mountaineer in double figures with 12 points, the team was still able to pull off the win. West Virginia held the Cyclones to just one made three-pointer which made a huge impact on the Mountaineers’ ability to win the game.

Tuesday night’s game will be the first meeting between Arizona State and West Virginia as the Sun Devils were previously a member of the Pac-12.
