With the undefeated Gators riding a nine-game winning streak into this weekend’s matchup, No. 9 Florida faces Arizona State in the Holiday Hoopsgiving contest in Atlanta on Saturday. 

Florida is off to a great start this season as winners of their first nine games to open the season a perfect 9-0 with a 3-0 record in neutral site games this season. The Gators swept two games at the ESPN Events Invitiational and won their lone matchup in the SEC-ACC Challenge vs. Virginia last week. Arizona State, on the other hand, are also streaking with a six-game win streak to improve their overall record to 8-1 on the season. The Sun Devils lone loss of the season came at Gonzaga in early November. This is the first-ever matchup between these two teams.

Most recently, Florida remained perfect with its ninth win of the season coming against Virginia in a 87-69 victory in Gainesville on Wednesday night. Senior guard Walter Clayton Jr. led the way with a game-high 27 points, scoring 18 of his 27 points in the second half. Clayton also added four assists and two steals while pouring in five three-pointers in a monster performance. 

As for Arizona State, the Sun Devils cruised past San Diego with a 90-53 victory in Tempe last Tuesday night. Five Sun Devils finished in double figures led by Jason Sanon’s 19 points while Basheer Jihad also poured in 19 points for Arizona State in the win. 

Ninth-ranked Florida looks to remain perfect when it squares off against Arizona State on Saturday.
