Arkansas State had won five games in a row before losing its last game 94-81 to Troy in the Sun Belt Conference championship game. The Red Wolves played much better than the final score would indicate. Arkansas State held an eight-point lead in the second half but it could not hold off a tremendous rally by Troy. There were five players who scored in double-digits and none were better than Dyondre Dominguez who led the Red Wolves with 19 points. Let’s see if they can keep their foot on the gas the entire game against Saint Louis.
The Billikens are also coming off a loss, against Loyola-Chicago in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship. Saint Louis got there after beating Davidson in their opening round game. The Billikens didn’t lose because of Isaiah Swope who led the team with 30 points. It was the most points scored in an A-10 Championship game in school history. Swope shot at 50 percent overall and hit six three-pointers. Saint Louis battled back in the second half but could not overcome a slow start against Loyola-Chicago. The Billikens are hoping they will have better luck tonight against another team with a Wolf mascot.
