No. 9 seed Duquesne tangles with eighth-seeded St. Bonaventure in an A-10 second round matchup on Thursday.

St. Bonaventure (21-10) won its last two games of the regular season and claimed the No. 8 seed for the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament with a 9-9 mark. On Thursday morning, the Bonnies open their stay at the A-10 tournament with a second round matchup with ninth-seeded Duquesne (13-18) at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. The Dukes lost their final two games to finish at 8-10 in the A-10. St. Bonaventure hasn’t played in the NCAA tournament since 2021, while Duquesne’s appearance in last season’s Big Dance was its first since 1977. The winner advances to Friday’s quarterfinals and a matchup against top-seeded VCU.

The Bonnies led by as much as 11 points in the second half and held on for a 64-61 win at Davidson on Saturday afternoon. Noel Brown paced the offense with 16 points, while Melvin Council Jr. finished with 15 points and four steals. Lajae Jones grabbed 12 rebounds. Council scores 14.5 points per game, with Chance Moore averaging 12.9 points and 6.4 boards.

The Dukes had a chance to win in regulation, but Tre Dinkins’ three-pointer was off the mark in their 90-88 overtime loss at Saint Louis on Saturday night. Dinkins finished with 15 points and six assists while Jakub Necas and Cam Crawford dropped 14 points each. Dinkins leads the club at 13.0 points per game, with Jahsean Corbett averaging 8.6 points and a team-high 5.3 rebounds.

St. Bonaventure is 71-65 in the series after the teams split a pair of games this season. Duquesne won 75-57 at home on Jan. 18 before the Bonnies took a 70-63 homecourt victory on Feb. 22.
