VJ Edgecombe and No. 9 seed Baylor will take on Cooper Flagg and No. 1 seed Duke in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 9-seeded Baylor will battle the No. 1-seeded Duke in the second round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship in the East Region on Sunday afternoon at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The No. 1-seeded Blue Devils are 32-3 overall heading into this game. They walked through the regular season and rolled their way to an ACC Tournament championship after wins against Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Louisville in the final game. They opened the NCAA Tournament with a game against No. 16-seeded Mount St. Mary’s.

Cooper Flagg returned to action in that game, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in 22 minutes. Tyrese Proctor led the team with 19 points and five assists in the 93-49 win. Caleb Foster came off the bench and had 12 points while Khaman Maluach had 11 points and five rebounds. Six players off the bench scored with Foster.

The No. 9-seeded Bears have had a roller coaster of a season. They are 20-14 overall, finishing the regular season with a 10-10 record against conference teams. They opened conference tournament play in the second round with a 70-56 win over Kansas State before bowing out in the quarterfinals with a loss by two points to No. 9-ranked nationally Texas Tech.

They opened the NCAA Tournament in one of the hardest positions, an 8-seed vs. 9-seed matchup. They took on Mississippi State and won by three points, 75-72. Robert Wright III had 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting to lead the team. Norchad Omier had Baylor’s only double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while VJ Edgecombe had 14 points and five rebounds.
