The Belmont Bruins visit the Richmond Spiders on Saturday evening in a non-conference matchup. The Bruins come into Saturday on a four-game winning streak and 8-2 on the season. They lost a close game to Furman in their second game of the season and then lost to Loyola Marymount on November 26th, but they have been great since. It hasn’t been easy, though, as they needed overtime to beat Illinois State a week and a half ago and then slipped by MTSU by three points last Saturday. The Bruins have five players averaging between 11.1 and 12.5 points per game. Isaiah Walker has led the balanced attack in scoring, while Jonathan Pierre is leading the team in rebounding at 7.1 boards per game. Pierre is also the second leading scorer at 12.2 points per game.

The Spiders will have to find a way to slow down the Bruins’ offense as they try and bounce back from a 44-point loss to No. 2 Auburn. The loss to the Tigers was their second in the last three games and dropped them back under .500 at 4-5 on the season.
The Spiders have struggled to find consistency this year and two of their four wins have come against non-D1 opponents.
DeLonnie Hunt has been the team’s top scorer at 18.9 points per game, while Mikkel Tyne is adding 10.7 points per game. They are the only two players averaging double figures this season for the Spiders.
